The Stacktangle Blanket will turn your expectations of the well known granny stitch on their head. This pattern uses stacked increases and decreases to turn simple stripes into complex looking colorwork. This isn't much harder than a regular granny stitch afghan, we've provided photo tutorials of the unusual stitches in the pattern.This project can be made in many sizes and is well suited for crocheters who are familiar with basic stitches and are ready to take on some new skills.
Sizes: Baby (Throw, Twin*, Full*, Queen, King)
Finished Dimensions: 23" x 28" (57" x 50", 91" x 72", 91" x 94", 91" x 116", 108" x 116") / 58 x 71 cm (145 x 127 cm, 231 x 183 cm, 231 x 239 cm, 231 x 295 cm, 274 x 295 cm)
Size before border: 17” x 22” (51” x 44”, 66" x 85", 88" x 85", 85" x 110", 102" x 110") / 43 x 56 cm (130 x 112 cm, 168 x 216 cm, 224 x 216 cm, 216 x 280 cm, 260 x 280 cm)
Yarn: 4 Colors of worsted weight (#4 Medium) blanket yarn such as:
- Loops & Threads Soft Classic, 354 yards (324 m) per 7 oz. 100% acrylic. Color A - Raspberry, Color B - Wine, Color C - Clay.
- Red Heart Super Saver Solids, 364 yards (333 m) per 7 oz. 100% acrylic. Color D - Orange.
Colors A & D:
- Balls : <1 (1, 3, 4, 4, 6)
- Yards: 54y (324y, 810y, 1080y, 1350y, 1888y)
- Meters: 50m (295m, 740m, 986m, 1233m, 1726m)
Colors B & C:
- Balls: <1 (2 3 4 5 7
- Yards: 71y (425y, 1062y, 1416y, 1770y, 2478y)
- Meters: 65m (390m, 975m, 1295m, 1620m, 2265m)
Average yarn per border round: 35y (78m, 122y, 140y, 158y, 185y) / 32m 72m (112m, 130m, 145m, 170m) Each border round adds 1" (2.5 cm) to the width and height of the blanket. The pattern calls for 6 border rounds, but you can do as many as you want. The listed yarn estimate is based on a 6 round border. If you add more than 6 rounds, make sure to account for slightly higher yardage / meterage in each additional round. Make sure you get enough extra yarn to complete the border in your chosen colors.
*Twin and Full size are turned 90* to fit on a bed.
Hook: Size I (5.5mm) or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 20 sts x 10 rows = 6 x 6" (15 x 15 cm)
Other Materials: Tapestry needle for finishing.
