The Psychedelic Shawl is a twisty, turny flame stitch motif bordered by traditional feather and fan lace. This pattern uses a gradient yarn and stacked stitches to create a unique chevron stripe inspired by rainbow posters of the 1960’s and vintage knitwear.

Pattern Stats

Finished Size: 24˝ x 72˝ (61 x 183cm)

Yarn:Any 2 colors of fingering weight yarn, the sample shows a self striping CC.

MC: Jamieson’s Shetland Spindrift, 115 yards (105m) per 25g - 5 skeins
Shown in Color 999, Black
CC: Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn, 656 yards (600m) per 150g - 1 skein
Shown in Color EQ, Rainbow

Needles: Size 5 (3.75mm) 32˝ circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge: Swatch instructions on next page 6 x 7˝ (15 x 18 cm) after blocking.

Other Materials: 3 stitch markers, sewing needle, pins, blocking pads.

Skill Level: Well suited for intermediate/advanced level knitters or any knitters who have a basic understanding of the stacked stitch technique.
