KAL for the Effervescent Lace Stole with Xandy Peters and Bazaar Girls

Join Xandy Peters and Bazaar Girls Yarn Shop & Fibre Emporium for a summertime Knit-A-Long this July! 

The Effervescent Lace Stole is a fun, interactive lace pattern knit in Clinton Australia Unbrushed Mohair. In this project, the stitch pattern fades from lace on the edges to garter stitch in the middle of the project. The key to achieving the desired look lies in the number of eyelets you create in each section or row. The pattern will instruct you on how many eyelets (YO, k2tog) you need to make, but it doesn’t tell you exactly where to put them. 

These inexact instructions serve two purposes: 

• When you use a traditional pattern to describe a random appearing stitch pattern, it becomes very hard to read and knit accurately. There aren't any landmarks to rely on and it takes a lot of effort for something that ultimately doesn't look very organized. 

• When you finish a project that uses this “algorithmic knitting” method instead of traditional instructions, no two projects will turn out exactly alike. They'll all look like they're the same species, just like all marigolds look pretty similar to each other while also having a uniquely ruffled cluster of petals. 

We know that it can be intimidating to cast on a project that gives you so much artistic freedom, so we're going to work on this project together, as a Knit-a-Long. You can attend the information session on July 9th at 4PM Pacific Standard Time to hear more about the pattern, yarn recommendations and to meet some of the other people who are joining in the KAL. 

The Effervescent Lace Stole KAL will officially start on July 23 with a cast on party. There will be additional sessions on July 30 and August 6 where you'll have time to socialize with show off your work to the other participants, see everyone's progress, and get any help you might need. We have prizes planned for each of the sessions and lots more fun in store.
